πΈ Design for Collective Spaces (DCS) is an design approach that helps people in creating projects that care. Care about our plant, its people, and the joy that comes with working collectively towards a more equitable future.

Originally, the approach was made for designers working in UX and service design, but realized upon sharing DCS that the values resonated with people from many different industries.
Seeing this, we decided to do a collective refresh of this DCS, gathering more research and feedback through a call to collaborate!
This notion serves as a fluid/flexible website, where people can find more info, download resources, and collaborate!

About the Collaborative Refresh & Resources
Collaborate, Support, and Connect
Design for Collective Spaces was originally created by Eliza Lim, Tracy Chen, Corrina Tang, and me, Marielle Sam-Wall, in 2021 under the guidance of Ron Wakkary. In 2022, I created the toolkit to compliment the original values.
If youβre interested in checking the work out, you can access both the values and toolkits down below πππ

In April 2024, I felt it was time to revisit and refresh this project. I wanted to expand it past the 4 of us who created it and invite more people to share their thoughts! I love open-source and collaborative work, so wanted to experiment what that could look like when it comes to design education!
So what does this refresh look like? Well, its all about learning as we go along but the current plan is to publish articles doing deep dives on one individual value.
The articles will be informed by feedback, case studies, and research from others working in this space and collaborating. The articles are meant to explore and experiment what it means to work collectively.
Here you can check out the already published articles, links to all the collaborative efforts that went into informing them, and the schedule in which they are published!
This project is all about collaboration and the easiest way is to do that is to comment on my LinkedIn posts! But the most fruitful way would to be to share your thoughts on the DCS miro, which you can find below:
